DOCUMENTS ACCEPTABLE FOR AN APOSTILLE
Documents issued by clerks and deputy clerks of Virginia Courts, registrars and deputy registrars of the Department of Health and the Clerk of the State Corporate Commission.
All documents must be less than one year old.
VITAL RECORDS ACCEPTABLE FOR APOSTILLE ** VIRGINIA VITAL RECORDS (BIRTH, DEATH AND MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES, SINGLE STATUS AND DIVORCE DECREES) MUST HAVE BEEN ISSUED WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS FOR INTERNATIONAL USE
BIRTH/DEATH CERTIFICATES, SINGLE STATUS AND DIVORCE DOCUMENTS ACCEPTABLE FOR APOSTILLE
Virginia Birth/Death Certificates, Single Status or Divorce documents must be issued from the Virginia Department of Vital Records.
MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES ACCEPTABLE FOR APOSTILLE
Virginia Marriage Certificates must be issued by the Virginia Department of Vital Records and may also be issued by the Circuit Court in which the marriage was recorded but must contain a “triple seal” or “authentication of record” (attachment with two seals from the Clerk and one seal from the Judge of the Circuit Court certifying the record).
Documents notarized by a Virginia Notary Public (Live and legible signature and seal), documents signed by the Clerk of the Circuit Court and documents signed by the Deputy Clerk.
